Natural coloured giant himalayan nettle handwoven against white organic cotton and a brown purplish bamboo (20/40/40) on a traditional handloom in Nepal. This rare fabric is ideal for clothing/ soft furnishings/ upholstery/crafting etc. It is soft to the touch with only a very slight coarseness from the nettle which is woven in 1cm gaps. Sold per metre. Width is 44''.

DETAILS & PROVENANCE Growing wild in the eastern hills of Nepal between 1200 and 3000 metres, the Himalayan Giant Nettle has been used for generations around homesteads in Nepal to make fishing nets, ropes, mats, sacks, bags and waistcoats. The nettle fibre has been handpicked, processed in the traditional Nepali methods and hand spun. This is a rare fabric of high quality, beautifully and lovingly made by highly skilled weavers in the Nepali Himalayas.
